From: Joy SummersWhen you stumble across a new song on the radio, you may not even know who sings it. We want to make it easier to find great new music by providing a list of the newest songs on WayFM and the meaning behind the music from the artists themselves!
Jamie MacDonald "Left It In The River"
"This song is all about when I was baptized as a new believer. My best friend and I decided it was time to make a public declaration of faith. So the two of us went out with a pastor to a big pond and we were both baptized on the same day. It was truly one of my most life changing experiences. I will never forget how I felt coming out of that water and I was truly changed forever."
Hope Darst "Mighty Name Of Jesus"
" I hope this song really encourages you, especially if you're fighting with fear or worry, or you feel like you just can't see a way out or like the enemy is coming against you. This song is a prayer for you to be able to sing over your life, over your heart, and over your mind, and remind yourself that everything you need is in the mighty name of Jesus."
TobyMac featuring Forrest Frank "Heaven On My Mind"
" I've been discovering lately that grief and loss is a journey. It's a journey I'd never really been on before. For the first few years, you are looking back; holding onto the memories in an attempt to continue to love the person that you lost. But I've learned as time rolls on as a believer, you kind of begin to look forward. When you turn your gaze toward the future, this hope rises up. Hope that you couldn't imagine before you wanted to, but it's like there's this new dimension of hope that gets birthed in your soul. Because this hope is not only the hope in Christ Jesus to save us, but also the hope in him to reunite us with the loved ones that we've lost. I knew about heaven and it would cross my mind, but now it kind of lives there."
Emerson Day "Get Behind Me"
"This song actually came from something my grandmother used to tell me when I was a little girl. She used to say anytime that you feel anxious or afraid or confused, that does not come from your Heavenly Father. That comes from the enemy. And you need to tell him, "Get behind me in the name of the Lord!" And she used to say, you have to say it three times. And each time you say it with a little more authority. And that has stayed with me even now as an adult. It's something that I have used because there is power in the name of the Lord. And I wanted to write this song to give people and myself a fight song and a weapon, to tap into the power that lives in us through the power of Jesus."
Lauren Daigle "Let It Be a Hallelujah"
"I wrote this song back in 2017. I realized that regardless of where you come from, regardless of what it is that your occupation is, or what you're staring at every single day, you can allow your actions to represent a hallelujah to the Lord. I feel like it's one of the best gifts that you can give Him for the breath that He's put into your lungs. Giving back praise to Him is one of the most glorious things."
Bodie "Heaven Knows I Tried"
This song is about wrestling with that space between intentions and reality. Pushing so hard to hold things together—relationships, faith, and a sense of purpose—and still feeling like you are coming up short.
For anyone who’s ever felt like their best wasn’t enough, this is me saying, ‘I get it. I’ve been there too. And even when it feels like you’ve fallen, you’re still seen, still loved. The whole gospel is about how we are not enough but Jesus is.
