Why I'm Keeping This Broken Tea Cup
Posted 10 months ago - Dec 29, 2025
From: Joy SummersMy husband accidentally broke one of my favorite tea cups yesterday. He saw how upset I was and later I found him quietly trying to glue it back together. Honestly, it will probably never hold liquid again, but it means more to me now. Because his effort whispered something deeper: “I love you enough to try.”
And isn’t that what real life looks like most days? A little messy. A little broken. A little glued together in ways we wouldn’t have chosen.
We hold certain things so dear—our plans, our routines, our expectations, our perfectly curated moments. But in the end, they don’t matter half as much as the people around us. The ones God has entrusted to us. The ones who sometimes break things, and sometimes break us, and yet somehow help piece us back together too.
So when I look at my tea cup covered in glue, I’m reminded that the cracks of life can be beautiful too. They let the light in. - Joy
