The Tragedy that Became a Turning Point
YOUR SUPPORT SHARES HOPE — EVEN IN THE MOMENTS NO ONE SEES COMING
When you support WayFM, you’re helping keep this ministry on the air around the clock. And for so many, that means a steady presence when everything else is falling apart.
For one listener named Katrina, it meant finding Hope after her son was murdered.
She wasn’t seeking God at the time. But the day after she lost her son, she walked into a church. And she kept walking in. Katrina shares in her own words…
“I have since realized that God had been seeking me for a long time, and I never turned to Him. But during the most horrific tragedy of my life, I gave myself to him.”
As Katrina walked through that valley, WayFM became part of how she processed her grief—and her growing faith.
“WayFM became a daily source of comfort and encouragement for me. God used it to keep pointing my heart back to him and reminding me that I wasn’t alone. Even in my grief, God gently reminded me to keep seeking him first—and he met me there, over and over again. It felt like his way of being near when everything else was overwhelming.”
Through the worst loss a parent can face, Katrina found something she wasn’t expecting—peace. God gave her the assurance that her son was saved before he passed.
The same week she sat down to write to us, Katrina shared one more piece of news: she was getting baptized that Sunday.
She also wanted to thank the people who make WayFM possible.
“I want WayFM supporters to know that what they give truly matters. What may seem like just a radio station can become a lifeline for someone who is hurting. During the heartbreak of losing Noah, God used WayFM to bring comfort, encouragement, Hope, and reminders of his love into my everyday life.”
You’ve played a part in Katrina’s story through your prayers and gifts.
The station she turned to in her darkest hours stayed on the air because of friends like you. Thank you for making sure people like Katrina can find the Hope of Jesus through the right song, the right encouragement, and the reminder that they are never alone.
Thank you
She Calls It THERAPY
Listener Amelia* keeps WayFM on all day. Part of that is for her. Part of that is a prayer.
Here’s how she puts it…
“I’m in a really hard season of life. I have WayFM on all day. I call it therapy. “When the enemy starts shouting, I raise an even louder hallelujah. “I have a prodigal child. I pray every day for God to send someone to speak some love, Hope, and peace into my child. Maybe it can come through you all with the right song, at the right time, as I continue to listen to you to get through the hard times, and good.”
Amelia is listening for herself — and praying the same station reaches her child too.
That’s exactly the kind of Hope your support makes possible. Every time you give, you help keep WayFM on the air for listeners like Amelia who are holding on and believing for more. Thank you
I Don’t Want to Be Anywhere Else
I want to tell you about a man named Gene.
He’s like a grandfather to me. And his home is a special place.
You know those houses that instantly make you feel safe the moment you walk through the door? The kind that holds a lifetime of memories in every room? That’s Gene’s house.
It’s where he raised his children. It’s where he loved and cared for his wife, Nancy, until she went home to be with Jesus. It’s even where my youth group held ping-pong tournaments, and we celebrated holidays.
But right now Gene is in the season of life where he’s preparing to move into a nursing home.
It’s hard for me to imagine.
Trying to imagine how painful it must be, I said to him: "Gene, I’m so sorry you have to leave your house."
I expected sadness.
I expected grief.
I expected him to tell me how hard it all feels.
Instead, he said something I’ll never forget.
"I’ve been praying about it a lot, and I believe that’s where God wants me to be. So I don’t want to be anywhere else."
I had to stop for a moment because that isn’t a normal response.
It’s the response of someone who has spent a lifetime learning to trust God. Gene wasn’t pretending the transition would be easy. He wasn’t denying the loss. He wasn’t saying he wouldn’t miss the home he loves. He was simply saying that if Jesus is leading him somewhere, then that’s where he wants to be.
Most of us have something we’d rather not walk through. But Gene reminded me of something important:
"Peace doesn’t come from getting the outcome we want. Peace comes from trusting the heart of the One who is leading us."
My prayer—for myself and for you—is that we will grow to trust him like that, wherever he leads.
Love,
Joy
“Okay, Lord – I hear you!”
How a highway sign and a surprise check confirmed what Judy already knew
We love hearing what sparks that moment when someone decides to support WayFM. Inspiration Fund donor Judy recently shared her story with us. It’ll make you smile and shake your head at the same time!
Recently Judy was driving home on I-440, listening to WayFM during a pledge drive, and she felt God nudging her to give.
“I said, ‘Okay, Lord, I need you to show me how much you want me to give.’ Painted across the pavement are big signs that say 440. And I said, ‘Okay, I feel like that’s a good sign. I hear you.’”
Then she got home and checked her mail.
“There was an envelope from my medical providers, and I thought, oh great, it’s another bill. It was actually a check for overpayment. It was for $880—exactly double. It proved to me right then and there that when God says do something, trust him and obey.”
This is the kind of faith that fuels this ministry—friends like you who listen for that nudge and follow through. And every time you do, WayFM stays on the air for someone who needs it.
We’d love to hear your story too. Reach out to our team at donorcommunications@hopemediagroup.com.
What’s Been Happening…
Faith & Family Night, South Florida
On April 25, more than 3,300 people showed up for an evening at the ballpark that felt like something only this community could pull off.
WayFM’s South Florida Faith & Family Night brought families together for live worship with Brent Taylor, celebrity messages of Hope and faith on the stadium jumbotron, and a kids zone packed with character encounters, inflatable games, and a WayFM art creator station. DOT—the WayFM mascot—even helped kick off the game. And yes, the night ended with fireworks.
It was one of those evenings where fun and faith walked hand in hand, and your support helped make it happen.
A Night Out for the Guys at Hope Center
When Crowder took the stage at The Pinnacle in Nashville on April 26, seven men from Hope Center Ministries were in the crowd—thanks to friends like you.
Hope Center runs a faith-based recovery program at its men’s facility in McEwen, Tennessee. Program leader Jerry, who attended with the guys, said the evening was a real blessing for everyone involved.
Your generosity makes this happen, putting people in places where they can rest, worship, and experience Hope firsthand.
Your Flyaway Winner
One lucky WayFM listener scored a flyaway experience this summer—made possible by your support of WayFM.
Back in January, everyone who completed the 7-Day Reset study through World’s Biggest Small Group was entered to win a trip to see Third Day at Red Rocks for their 30th anniversary concert—along with Michael W. Smith, Matt Maher, Jon Reddick, and Brandon Heath.
Our winner: Emily from Evansville!
These are the kinds of moments that happen when a community like ours comes together. Thank you for being part of it.
"“What an awe-filled and humbling experience for us! And I loved seeing that same awe and humility radiating from the artists!”"
Emily, flyaway winner
