Hi. I’m Obadiah and I’m new here.

Well, kinda new. I used to be the guy you heard in the middle of the night when you couldn’t get back to sleep. Then I was the guy you heard in the evening when you were coming back from those soccer games or prepping for the next day. Now I’m the guy you hear on your way home from work.

The best way to get to know me would be to take me out for an shockingly expensive meal. The second best way would be to keep reading as I answer a few questions about me. I’m still up for the free meal but since we’re here let’s keep going.

What’s your favorite part about being on the air at WayFM?

I think I’m supposed to have one answer for this but its really two: Jesus and you. I love working for a radio station where I get to talk about Jesus, the things He is teaching me, and His love for everyone. That’s always going to get first place but the other thing I love about WayFM is you. It is so fun to take your phone calls in the afternoon and hear what you’re thinking about and what’s going on in your day. You should call me some time! 855-33-WAYFM

What’s a food everyone loves but you just can’t get behind?

Everyone thinks that the way to make something taste better is to add onion to it. Onions are the devil’s apples. They’re awful. They ruin anything and everything that you add them to. Just say no to onions. Your life will immediately improve.

How has God surprised you in this season of your life?

My wife and I are in the process of selling our home, buying a new one, living in temporary housing… the list goes on. I thought stepping out in faith would be easy. I mean, I KNOW it isn’t easy but for some reason I thought this time it would be different. For the record, I was wrong. Not easy. :)

Where’s the surprise? God has been present in all the difficulty. I think that God being present means that things are going to be easy. Even though I know that isn’t true, I’ve been surprised by the difficulty. I’ve also been surprised by His presence in it all. He has been very near. He has comforted us. He has helped us. That also should not come as a surprise, but, in case you can’t tell, I’m a slow learner.

What’s your go-to “comfort watch” TV show or movie?

I have seen Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan so many times that I could write the script. My dad banned it for a chunk of childhood because he was tired of hearing it. If you see me sitting quietly, there’s a good chance that a scene from that movie is playing out in my head. TV? Seinfeld. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve watched it but I keep going back to it.

What does a perfect Saturday look like for you?

Sleeping in. (Obviously) Sip pour over coffee while reading by the fire. (I love books but I also love comic books. I subscribe to Marvel Unlimited.) Hang out with my family and watch Ohio State play football. Watch MST3k with my daughter until I fall asleep. Somewhere in this mix I fire up the Playstation.

What song never fails to change your mood when it plays?

“Heaven Knows I Tried” and “Hopeful” are the two songs that we are playing right now that I turn up EVERY SINGLE TIME. I keep complaining to the bosses that the speakers in the studio aren’t loud enough. (They aren’t! We don’t even have a subwoofer!)
